Since 1999, the University Meets Industry (Hochschule trifft Industrie, HTI) event has provided a platform for scientific exchange between young academic groups and companies in the field of application-oriented organic synthesis. The 14th edition of this success story will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2026, at Bayer AG's research and development site in Wuppertal.

The prestigous evening lectures feature renowned experts from academia and industry sharing their insights.

This edition’s lectures will be given by Dr. Anastasia Hager (Lead of Drug Discovery Sciences at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, R&D, Bayer AG, Wuppertal) and Prof. Dr. Karl Gademann (Professor of Synthetic Chemistry and Chemical Biology, University of Zurich, Switzerland).

    Prof. Karl Gademann (born 1972) is a Swiss chemist renowned for his work at the intersection of organic synthesis and chemical biology. After earning his doctorate at ETH Zürich and completing postdoctoral work at Harvard under the mentorship of Dieter Seebach, Eric N. Jacobsen, and Erick M. Carreira, he held professorships at EPFL and the University of Basel before moving in 2015 to the University of Zürich, where he currently chairs the Department of Chemistry. His research group focuses on the total synthesis and biological evaluation of natural products, exploring their potential in fighting cancer, infectious diseases, and neurological disorders.

    Anastasia Hager leads Drug Discovery Sciences at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, guiding a global team focused on discovering the right molecules to tackle diseases across oncology, cardiovascular, renal, immunology, and rare disorders.

    With her scientific background in Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Anastasia combines rigorous science with innovative thinking.

    Since joining pharma industry, she has progressed from leading process scientific teams to steering complex late-stage projects as CMC Project Lead, accelerating drug development timelines. As Chief of Staff to the Head of R&D, she expanded her impact by driving strategic initiatives across global portfolios.

    Today, Anastasia channels her scientific expertise and passion for collaborative innovation to transform cutting-edge research into therapies that make a real difference in patients’ lives.
